Muhammara: Syrian pate of roasted pepper, walnuts and pomegranate

The muhammara is a very creamy Arabic pate made with peppers and nuts that, although very popular throughout the Middle East, originates in Aleppo, Syria.

It is an exotic and addictive entrée very easy to prepare in which, despite the fact that peppers and nuts are the most outstanding, it is the pomegranate that has given it that unmistakable touch.

Thus, the combination of its ingredients creates a flavor very rich in nuances where spicy and sweet notes predominate, mixing with the intensity of the pepper.

This spread is ideal to accompany it with pita bread, naan (traditional bread from Central and South Asia), or toast, as well as grilled vegetables, nachos or chips, and even to spread on sandwiches.

As for its nutritional properties, this pate is, thanks to peppers and nuts, rich in beta carotene , lycopene , proteins , fiber , lecithin , polyphenols , omegas 3 , 6 and 9 ; vitamins A , C , E and group B ( B1 , B2 , B3 , B6 and B9 or folic acid ); calcium , phosphorus , magnesium , potassium , boron and copper .
